We did one round of in-vitro and successfully got pregnant with a baby girl. She was born in Feb 2009. In April 2010, we decided to do the embryo transfer with the remaining embryos we had frozen. We assumed only 2 out of the 3 remaining would be used, considering my age but the doctor recommended using all 3 since only 1 of 2 took the first time and the chances of pregnancy on a transfer are so much less.
Well, at 7 weeks we went in for an ultrasound and quickly learned that in fact, all 3 did take! It was definitely a shock but clearly the greatest gift we could have never imagined.
Miraculously, my pregnancy was quite uneventful. I delivered via C-section at 36 weeks and 6 days. Ryan Morgan, 7lbs; Adyson Michelle, 5 lbs 13.5 oz and Hayden Robert, 7 lbs 7 oz were born January 4, 2011. Adyson spent 3 days in the NICU with pneumothorax (which ultimately corrected itself) and the boys went home with me after 2 days.
Now, 14 months old they are a ton of fun. Their looks and personalities are completely different--which adds to the adventure. We are very structured and scheduled but it works for us. They are great eaters and sleepers (still almost 16 hours a day between 12 hours at night and 2 naps a day!)
I feared the thought of having 4 kids, especially 3 at once but we just take it one day at a time. We figure we've already beat some pretty amazing odds, might as well keep it going! Things definitely happen for a reason...
